We love innovative and unusual event design – because our spaces are so well-suited to unique ideas that really make the occasions held here individual, beautiful and memorable. And even though our most spectacular spaces are steeped in historic charms, when dressing for dinner we do like to be on trend. So we’re always looking out for sources of fresh inspiration… and we’ve found it in spades in the very first issue of an absolutely gorgeous online event design magazine called fête.

The issue is (homemade) jam-packed with ideas for all tastes, styles and budgets – but all have to pass co-creators Annabelle Kerslake and Jane Cameron’s ‘time-poor test’; everything has to be easy, accessible and authentic. We think we’re being spoilt with loveliness.

And we’ve certainly had a romantic start to 2012, with lots of eager young couples coming round the College, chatting to our Events team and visualising just what their special day might be. One of the more unusual and rather dramatic first dances at Tamsyn and Jamie’s wedding…

“Our scam of shuffling to Celene Dion for 32 seconds beforehand worked a
treat and everyone was suckered and had no idea anything was up until the swords
came out.

We’d both like thank the staff on the day and your efforts over the past few
months. The wedding went without a hitch and, unusually, if we had to do it
again we’d change nothing. Nothing at all. Your staff were exceptional. If I was
to say they were professional, friendly and in control it would only paint half
of the picture and if you were to point another couple in our direction we’d
sing (shout) your praises and recommend that they just go with whatever you
